Guide Hachette 2009 – Star

This estate was discovered last year for its first vintage (2005). Biodynamic, it was selected this year for two vintages. The Marpeau is a wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), which develops an intense fruity flavour with peppery and balanced tannins that will improve with keeping for two or three years.

Rose 2007  1etoiles

This small vineyard of 10.5 ha, beautifully situated on the slopes of the Dordogne, has the peculiarity of being grown and vinified by its new owners following the lunar calendar. An original method which seems to have borne fruit, judging by the bright pink, vermilion reflections, menthol notes, and followed by crushed small red berries. Soft on the palate with slightly sweet flavors of Merlot, and a subtle presence of tannins. This is a well balanced wine that is readily appreciated with a half grilled lobster or t-bone steak.

Marpeau 2006

This estate was discovered last year for its first vintage (2005). Biodynamic, it was selected this year for two vintages. The Marpeau is a wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), which develops an intense fruity flavour with peppery and balanced tannins that will improve with keeping for two or three years. The vintage red Maison 2006 (5-8 €), which contains more Merlot, has a more rounded character that is good to drink immediately. An estate to follow.
